Anthony Weiner

As the worm turns, Weiner’s story seems to unravel.  The more we learn to be true, the more questions are raised.  Here are my observations: 

1)  How many photographs exist of YOUR crotch?  How many of those photos are on your computer?  Perhaps you are not sure, and you’re thinking, “well, I haven’t taken any photos of my crotch...but maybe someone else has taken photos of crotch.”  Fair enough.  Have you ever let someone else take a photo of your crotch?  Is it possible that someone has surreptitiously taken photos of your crotch?  Could such photos be on your computer?  

2)  Why, exactly, is Weiner following a 21-year old woman in Seattle via Twitter?  

3)  It is a serious issue if someone has hacked into a computer or account of a Congressman.  That’s not a prank.  If it happened, it should be reported to the authorities as a crime and investigated.  If Weiner is being set-up or framed by political opponents, doesn’t it serve his purposes to have such people brought to light and justice?  What kind of bonehead would let such an opportunity to defeat his enemies slip by?

4)  I think the best reason supporting Weiner’s decision to hire a lawyer and NOT report this as a crime is because he wasn’t hacked, and to report it as a crime would itself be the crime of making a false report to the police.  The assumption here is that the police would quickly uncover the fact that Weiner intentionally sent the photo.

Weiner is buying time right now.  Perhaps the “security team” he has hired is working to erase his cyber-tracks - if at all possible.  That’s purely speculation, but I suspect that if in all the security work that team is doing, if a hard drive were accidentally destroyed, it would make a thorough investigation that much more difficult, if not impossible.  I would guess that once his team achieves that, Weiner will acquiesce and invite an investigation, just to set the record straight that.

MSNBC Swings And Misses

MSNBC continues its unique brand of hard-hitting journalism.  This week, host Martin Bashir suggested that Sarah Palin is in violation of federal law regarding the use of the American Flag.  For those interested in Flag Code, there’s a website :http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagcode.htm

Seeking to enforce Flag Code is akin to calling in the license plates of drivers who travel 56 mph in a posted 55 zone.  We don’t even need to address the issue of whether Sarah Palin is in violation of the Flag Code – no one seems to care when the Flag is carried horizontally at Superbowls or College Bowl games and the like.

What is interesting is that MSNBC runs a feature that offers the suggestion that Palin is violation of the law.  When is MSNBC or Martin Bashir going to report on the fact that Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats have declined to pass a budget for two years? Of course, should MSNBC ever suggest that the Senate Democrats are failing to do their job, Harry Reid or Kent Conrad might correctly feel that it’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
